We have many departments to choose from: Communications, Engineering, Medical, Operations, Sciences and Security. For those under 12, we have the Cadet Corps. You can choose a department that best fits your interests, however you are free to participate in all chapter activities.

When you join the USS Ascension, you will receive the following membership materials:

• Membership ID card & certificate - identifying you as a member of the USS Ascension.
• Issues of “The Rising Star” - our Chapter's newsletter with info on recent chapter and Trek events, news, upcoming conventions etc.
• Meeting Minutes - from our meetings keeping you informed of what is going on in the chapter.
• Ship's Manual - includes our bylaws, policies, procedures and other important information on the chapter's operations.
• Chapter Listserve - access to our closed Yahoogroups e-mail Listserve where you can exchange e-mails with many other members of the USS Ascension.
• STARFLEET Membership - which includes a membership card and certificate, membership manual, chapter list, bi-monthly newsletter the "Communique", access to the member database and more.
• STARFLEET Academy courses - access the the members only academy courses that test your knowledge of all things Trek and sci-fi.
